This review will be brief, because what I really want to be doing right now is reading the sequel, And Then I Found Out the Truth. That's how good And Then Everything Unraveled was.

Delia Truesdale is a child of the Silicon Valley, but when her Internet tycoon mother disappears while on an environmental trip to Antarctica, an apparently-orphaned Delia is sent to New York to live with her Aunt Charley, a woman she has never met. Delia doesn't think her mother is really dead, but how can she prove it without getting sent to a shrink for not dealing with her grief?

This book has all the usual trappings of a novel set in NYC (prep school, subways, fashion), but the writing is so fresh and Delia and her Aunt Charley are so likable that the novel is in no way derivative. In fact, this book is like nothing that I've read this year. If you're looking for a fun read in the contemporary realistic fiction genre, then look no further than And Then Everything Unraveled.

Off to read the sequel!

I love intelligent protagonists!

This book, like all of Jennifer Sturman's, has a truly intelligent heroine. In other words, chick lit, or in this case teen lit, done right. Ms. Sturman's first foray into the teen world is still every bit worth a read by her adult fans. Della is engaging, intelligent, and fun to hang out with for an evening. I couldn't stop turning the pages - and I can't wait for the sequel!

While I came into the program with a great deal of motivation

I have been a Farmers agent for about 3 years now. I left an 18 year banking career to join Farmers. While I came into the program with a great deal of motivation, enthusiasm & preparation, I really had no idea what I was getting into. I would have loved to have read this book prior to making that decision. At the end of the day, my choice would still have been to venture into the insurance industry, but it would have helped me to have a more realistic approach as to what to expect for the years to come. I would love to see this book as part of a pre-requisite prior to beginning your insurance career. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering venturing into the insurance industry and to anyone who is currently in the insurance industry. Jeff offers great advice and tools to help you succeed in this business. Great book Jeff!

I been an agent for 14 years and the hardest thing to do is put systems in place that will help the agency grow. This book will help you go through this implementation of systems and procedures with little pain and lots o gain. It is more than a book it is a guideline that will make your agency be successful. Very easy for kids to self teach

I have 2 children, aged 6 and 9. Both breezed through the first book in under a month. This second book is a bit more challenging for them, introducing the left hand, basic chords, and some more musical notation. The songs are all familiar and follow the same easy to read format as the first book, with keyboard stickers from A (ant) through to G (giraffe).

The only thing I don't like so much about these books is that they are all very large. I understand they need to be bigger than usual for kids to easily follow along the notes, but it would be nice if they could shrink them by 20%.

For the Non-Musical

I am not a musician, nor can I read notes, or play an instrument. However, my 10-year-old granddaughter wants to learn. So, I bought a folding electronic digital keyboard piano and THIS Piano-K self-teaching book 1, and now book 2. She IS able to teach herself how to play and so excited and proud to perform her new pieces for me! I am way impressed!

Great for kids who want to start playing immediately with minimal 'drudgery'

My seven-year old son could play the entire first book within a couple of weeks, which happily is composed of popular nursery tunes he knows, so he can self-correct when his playing doesn't sound right.

He started with an instructor last week, who was impressed with his high level of commitment and interest - which I attribute to these books! Enjoying an early success at playing whole songs has been inspirational and fun for him, and he wants to keep learning.

My own childhood experience with beginner piano books was so deadly dull that I gave up quickly, but this one, heck, even I play it too.

You do have to slightly 'deface' your keyboard with stickers, but they'll peel off later, and they are the really essential part, since they teach the keys by visual association (C note is a cat face, D is a dog, E is elephant, etc) and the key labels match the note signatures visually. No need to start memorizing note placement until child is already playing successfully, and then it comes naturally at that point. The notes are also numbered to show which finger (1-5) should be playing the note.

Can't recommend enough. The Level One book teaches the right hand, treble clef, and no black keys, with basic time signatures. The Level Two book adds the left hand and bass clef, with some black keys and additional theory. After these two books, children will be able to transition easily into more complicated lesson series.

We used this book for several years of IEP meetings. I highlighted this book up thoroughly. Although I had the laws ready to use, I had to prove my case as well in order to get the school to listen and implement changes. Depending upon your school and the types of people working there, this book can be an invaluable resource for you or someone you love. I highly recommend it!
