Wedding Worries for Moms

I am a Mother Of A bride who to be honest has not had exactly easy these last few months..i have been told a million times that I am to have understanding.Frankly i am over it! I was in a bridal store the other day and where we were shopping in Colorado and i picked up this book called" your day..". i started flipping through it and my eyes immediately went to the chapter ' navigating the mine field of family politics" After reading the book from cover to cover i picked up so many tips on what we are all feeling and some real good advice. Ofcourse I gave my daughter to read it and it has really helped not just with ideas, but how to cope with each other. I think I may actually really enjoy the day when it arrives and not be such a nervous wreck. Read it. You will find help. I promise you all.

MY "TO GO" BRIDAL SHRINK!!

So many people when planning their wedding actually foget why they are doing it after awhile. so much to plan and do, a job, the stress, the cost all the extra details. I chanced across Your day, your way and I took it home thinking it could at least make me laugh a little at myslef. well what the book has done is actually take me through the emotions i have been experiencing and put them into some sort of context. I just could not believe how acurate it is. Planning a wedding is also navigating a whole lot of family stuff. This book hits it on the head in a very even way. My applause. my thanks.
You have got to buy this book and sit down and really read it. If you are a bride a planner or even close to helping the planners. I really think for $18.95 it was my "to go shrink"!

This book is written with such wit and such fun.
Yes, there are books out there that give you the month and to do lists, but where is the schedule for the emotions that need to be managed during this most challenging moment in many peoples lives??? i mean not just the Bride, but parents, in laws, the groom etc. Your day really treads where no Bridal book i have read to date has gone.It is so current con temporary and so practical. You must get this and read from cover to cover. It will put so much of what you are thinking,saying, feeling and doing into perspective. hands up and kudos to the writers. LOVE it!

Ollier and Pain succeed in bringing attention to the entire mantle, or regolith, that covers bedrock. That is, soil, weathered rock (saprolite), residuum, transported surficial sediment, and chemical products. Essentially this is a complete reworking of the now dated title WEATHERING.
The economic importance of regolith studies in Australia has paid off for mining concerns. But the authors include much here for pedologists, geographers, and sedimentary geologists working in arid and semi-arid environments. I liked their concept of 'whole continent' evolutionary geomorphology (p 274) which was introduced previously in ANCIENT LANDFORMS.

Try REGOLITH GEOLOGY AND GEOMORPHOLOGY to round out the coverage of a resource being destroyed faster than it's created.

In my opinion, this is one of the better books available for soil scientists, geomorphologists, and engineering geologists who need a good desk reference book on soil pedogenesis and landforms. The only weakness is the dearth of discussion on landslides and their role in landscape development.

Depressing look at the dark side of disco era

It's the late 70's, the height of the disco-and-drugs craziness at Manhattan gay clubs. Paul is a thirty something veteran of that scene, now desperately clinging to recovery, a loner, barely surviving day to day on a dead-end job that barely pays enough to get him a room at a residence hotel.

One night, he is passing the infamous Studio 54, and lucks out in being able to follow a group past the velvet ropes that would ordinarily have excluded him. In that Disneyland of celebrities, sex and drugs, he manages to meet a kindred spirit. Adam is about his age, and also a recovering addict. They make a date to meet a little later, but Adam is found dead at the disco later that evening. Paul becomes obsessed with finding out who Adam was, and what led him to that stage in his life, likely to better understand his own situation.

Other than spinning some memories of those who remember that place and time, this is not a very easy book to read, dealing with a clearly depressed, desperate character, who must make distasteful compromises in order to survive. Beyond that, the writing is fairly good, and it could provide a nice escape for someone who will not be affected by the negativity. I give it three stars out of five.

Loved it.

I have always been fascinated with Studio 54 and the celebs that haunted the place. This book was right up my alley. I could not put it down. Warhol, the gay promiscuity of the era, NYC as it used to be, was right on point. I have been to Studio 54 in it's heyday. I inhabited some of the sex clubs. Everything was a reminder of a time when anything went and life was not always "pretty." Sadly nostalgic. Anyway, a great read.
