Autodesk Inventor Dynamic Simulation

I have been teaching Autodesk Inventor Dynamic Simulation for 3 years mostly from notes and the brief AOTC book. This is a welcome addition that is far more extensive than the AOTC material.
The book is written in a very easy to follow step-by-step tutorial format with real parts(not just theory).
There are some minor errors for a first edition that don't substantially effect the flow of the problems and the author is very quick to communicate back through his web site tied to the book.

I would get both this book and the AOTC book. If you can afford only one - get this one.

Very good purchase. The book contains a lot of examples of real life projects and explains step-by-step how to manipulate the software and use all the tools available. All samples can be downloaded from Author's website.
Highly recommended for those who are starting with AIP2010 Stress Analysis and Dynamic simulation.

Great resource for "alternative processes"

I teach alternative processes and was looking for a smaller, and cheaper, version of Christopher James "The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes". While I love James' book, the cost has always made it a difficult choice to require my students to purchase, I would rather they had a bit more money for supplies to actually use some of the processes described in the book instead of just reading about them. This is where "Photographic Possibilities" comes to the rescue. Hirsch does a good job of summarizing photographic history as it relates to the use of processes in the first chapter of the book, and he keeps it interesting so even the shortest attention spans should be captivated. The rest of the book includes valuable information on classic B/W film and paper processes (face it, these are now alternative processes too), as well as discussing many of the more popular hand-coated processes like Cyanotype and Platinum/Palladium. The chapter on digital negatives is a good primer for a beginner to use, but like any textbook that includes current software and hardware, it is doomed to be out of date soon by no fault of Hirsch. The most valuable part of this textbook in my opinion is the chapter on how to actually incorporate the various processes and concepts into a work-flow that makes the best use of your materials and processes. I recommend this to any photographer wanting to expand their image making vocabulary, and instructors of alternative photography.

Robert Hirsch's Photographic Possibilities, Third Edition, is absolutely fantastic and takes its place as the frontrunner among texts concerned with experimental photography. This new book is wonderfully updated with current information and most importantly; it's a visual and creative feast. The turn of each page is a delight for the eyes, as well as incredible inspiration for trying new techniques, exploring, playing, and taking chances with clear and precise guidance from an expert and venerable writer (See Hirsch's other books: Light and Lens: Photography in the Digital Age--the benchmark of excellence in the new hybrid world of traditional and digital imaging; Seizing the Light: A Social History of Photography- the standard of excellence in the history of photography; and Exploring Color Photography: From the Darkroom to the Digital Studio- the standout book in its field as well).

Photographic Possibilities is the most beautifully illustrated text on experimental photography available today, profusely filled with numerous wonderful images and examples of the many techniques presented in clear chapters; from elegant, antique 19th century contact printing methods like platinum and gum printing, to 21st century step-by-sep procedures using computers and inkjet printers for experimental purposes and creating enlarged negatives. Excellent Resource

Hirsch does a great job of covering the ins and outs of alternative photography. This book is a great resource for doing everything from acrylic lifts to palladium/platinum printing to high speed developing times.

A Vampire with Abandonment issues

It's been a while since I've read a story by Amber Kell. Which is surprising because I really do enjoy her tales whether they feature paranormals or mere mortals. Some purchases I make are purely impulsive. I didn't care for the premise when l glanced at the book's description on it's Amazon page. I didn't want to read about a man who went on to get married after being deserted by his male lover. But later I decided to peruse the sample and I found it to be a compelling opening.

I knew the story had some vamps but I guess in my quick glance I didn't notice that the protagonist's ex- had become a vampire. I've mentioned in previous reviews that I really don't like getting too much info about a story prior to reading it. I enjoy being surprised and boy was I on more than one occasion. I'm the same way with movies I won't look at the previews of movies I really want to watch so I can be pleasantly and sometimes unpleasantly surprised when I finally sit down to watch it whether that is at the theater, on DVD, or on television.

So when vamps started popping up I saw I was in for quite an interesting story. This story raised a bunch of questions that I never realized needing answering. It also made me happy that it was the beginning of a series because I found it to be quite entertaining. There were moves l didn't anticipate the author making. Among the questions were Does a vampire stay the age he is when he is converted? Does he still manifest all the same features, ailments, and memories? Why would someone choose to turn an older/elderly person into a vampire?

It's always fun to discover how an author handles vampire lore. Will they be able to walk around outside during daylight? Do they have reflections in mirrors? Do they shave? What is their body temperature like? How do they view their food? How do they acquire it? Are they able to eat/drink any thing other than blood?

Amber manages to answer these questions and many others. How the MCs act when finally reunited? How do coven members react to their former/current relationship? How does the newly converted vamp act to all the many crazy changes in his life?

Here's a heads up the story stops at about the 89% Mark and a preview of the author's story DRAGON MEN BOOK 1: MATE HUNT takes up the rest of the book. (I read it a few years back so I'll get to submitting that review hopefully by the end of this year.) Anyway just be prepared for the book to stop sooner than anticipated.

I loved this book. I loved how Bad and Gus's love lasted a long time. They have some issues to work on and I hope they get worked out. I liked how Gus's grandson Nickolas is the king of the vampires. I can not wait for the next book in the series to come out. Erin

For this to be the shop manual, it did not contain any information as to working on the engine.... Doesn't tell u how to take off the cylinder heads or nothing... Doesnt even show the valves...

The Bently manual is a great resource for anyone who buys a used car. Even if you don't work on the car yourself, it has information on service schedules, upgrades, and how to check fluid levels and other functions of the car.

Missed my model on the fringe

Book has great diagrams. This is not a repair manual but a reference manual. My model is a 1998 A6 Quattro wagon. Several places, primarily in the electrical stuff, it misses my model or the picts do not show whats really in my car. Instance is there is no wiring diagram for the "1998 central locking system". Diagrams start with 1999. Also, no picts to show where windows system breakers are located for this model. A pict and diagram shows them to be under the drivers foot well, but after taking my panels off, its no where to be seen.

Great introduction section in the beginning of the manual to discuss differences between models, years, and options. Good functional info on transmissions and engines there too.

So far, its the best there is out there, but as most all these type books, they fall short. It is worth it for the info and diagrams it does contain.

Unnatural Children are created by under- or over-controlling parents, dangerous neighborhood, serious illness, lousy schools, etc.

It never occurs to a beaten down Unnatural Child that puddles are to splash, strange doors are to open, weird clothes are to wear, and frogs are to sleep with. A rebellious Unnatural Child does them all.

Everybody has both beaten down and rebellious Unnatural Children because nobody grows up in a perfect environment, or has perfect genes. Your beaten down Unnatural Child will be too scared to go on that walk. Your rebellious Unnatural Child will tell me to go jump in a cold lake.

Introduction to Berne

While short, Ernest Kinnie's work is an excellent intorduction to Eric Berne's work on Transactional Analysis, and anyone who has an interest in this theory will find this either a good introduction or a valuable aid for their memory, as Kinnie explains well Berne's core elements of the Child, Adult and Parent ways of engaging with other people as well as looking at the more important games people play with each other.

ONE OF THE GREAT SELF-HELP BOOKS. I AM READING KINDLE VERSION. I READ THE ORIGINAL YEARS AGO. BUT HIS FOCUS IS STILL HELPFUL FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO IMPROVE.
